Cystoscopy: Can be done with local anesthesia at the office of the urologist. Mostly diagnostic. The therapeutic/diagnostic cystoscopies involving more invasive procedures like ureteral stents placements and/or kidney stone extraction will need IV sedation and or general anesthesia. Sometimes even spinal anesthesia if prostatic procedures done.

See below: Cystoscopy is often doen in the urologists office with only local anesthesia. In cases where you need a better examination they may bring you to the hospital for IV sedation or general anesthesia. This depends on the urologist and the procedure. Talk to your provider to ask more questions.
