Nature: When your ovary release an egg it contains something called a corpus luteum cyst. This produces Progesterone as it waits for ovulation. The corpus luteum dies if it is not fertilized. This stops the Progesterone production. The drop in progestestone destabilizes the lining of the uterus called the endometrium leading to your menstrual cycle.
