See dentist: If he has a hole in his tooth causing pain, it will not go away on its own. He needs to see a dentist asap. In the meantime eat and drink things at room temperature and avoid sweets. There are no foods or drinks that will take away the pain. If he can Ibuprofen and tylenol (acetaminophen) it can help until he gets into the dentist.

See a dentist: The hole in the tooth will not go away without treatment. He needs to see a dentist asap. If you have a dental school or training hospital in your area, they usually have low fees. Call your local dental society and find out about clinics in your area that can help. But get treatment. Meanwhile have him eat soft foods. Ibuprophen 600mg and 2 tylenol (acetaminophen) every 6 hours can help with pain for a bit.

Needs to be treated: Dental problems do not discriminate and affect people with or without insurance. It still needs to be examined and treated by a dentist, and it will not go away on its own. It will get worse over time. Call for an appointment today and hopefully he will need just a filling... The deeper the lesion gets, the more of a chance it will require root canal therapy. Feel better soon.

Perspective: If your husband had a pain in his chest, had trouble walking all of a sudden, a suspicious growth on his forehead, etc (& had no insurance) would he just let things go or would he go to a doctor? The whole in his tooth is no different. Holes in teeth just continue to get worse without being fixed. The cost in time, pain, & money will only get worse if not treated. Other dr. Answers gave u options.
