Usually not: If you see flashing lights, many floaters, or a dark curtain, you may have a retinal detachment. If the soreness increases and you are sensitive to light, you may have traumatic iritis. See your ophthalmologist (eye md) to assess the damage. There may be damage to the anterior chamber drainage angle that leads to future glaucoma. Your eye md will be able to tell you.

Eye injury: Whenever you get injured in your eye, it's important to have it checked out to make sure that you don't have a scratched cornea or some other type of injury. If the symptoms don't improve in the near future, have your eye doctor check it out.
