My wife is 5 weeks pregnant, (ovulation 7/27) her hcg levels are very low and not doubling ( 8/16 hcg 71 iu; 8/19 hcg 96 iu), what does it mean?

Very early or abnorm: This could be a very early pregnancy or it could be one that will not survive...Continue following betas until over 1500 at that time you should get an ultrasound to make sure the pregnancy is in the uterus.. If the numbers start to fall it is likely not viable... Hang in there i know this is a really tough time and an emotional roller coaster.

Talk to your doctor: Levels should double every two days. (or at least rise by 60%). I would repeat another tomorrow and then talk with her doctor. She is at risk for miscarriage and an ectopic. Make sure you follow up.
