Doesn't matter: Having the bladder full of urine makes it a little easier for the ultrasound to view the uterus and ovaries. If the bladder is less full it can be a little more difficult to see the ovaries, but if your mother has cysts on the ovaries they should be able to be seen pretty clearly. The part of the exam with the probe in the vagina sees the ovaries very well, doesn't depend on bladder fullness.
