G6PD & Exercise : Most important things to prevent are foods, medications and chemicals that can cause hemolysis (red cell breakdown). Stressors, including strenuous physical activity may precipitate a hemolytic attack. The answer however really depends on the severity of your disease/deficiency. There is no specific: Reason why g6pd deficiency should preclude exercise of any kind. Make sure you are avoiding oxidant stressor medications and foods by referring to the www.G6pd.Org website and communicating effectively with your doctor. Living a healthy lifestyle also helps to minimize illness/infection that themselves can be problematic for pts with g6pd because of the inflammatory response used to combat them.
