A member asked:

What could cause a sharp, stabbing pain in the pelvic area months after a total abdominal hysterectomy that left my ovaries?

Scar tissue: I see that you're 29 years old, did you have the hysterectomy for endometriosis? Scar tissue formation can always cause sharp stabbing pain after surgery. If you had the surgery for endometriosis, of course, you would be at increased risk for formation of scar tissue. You can see doc for exam to make sure ovaries are normal, but if ovaries normal, can be scar tissue formation.

Several things: An ovarian cyst could be present. An ultrasound would show that. You could have developed pelvic adhesions after the surgery. The pain could be related to your intestines, bowel function or constipation. These are some options you could discuss with your obgyn.
