Pain syndrome: Ankle fusion is essentially a last resort surgery, and if you've had 3 of them then that tells me further surgery likely is not the answer for your pain. You may want to see a pain management physician to be evaluated for possible complex regional pain syndrome. Treatment for that can include physical therapy, medications, and injections. Also consider a spinal cord stimulator.

Topical treatment?: I would recommend topical pain relief treatments. This is a simple and effective treatment that can be prescribed by many educated doctors in transdermal medications. The use of a compound pharmacy can provide safe and effective medications that you can apply to the painful area to help with the pain. If too severe look into total ankle implants.

See : Pain management doctor. If you had 3 fusions then more surgery likely won't help. Nerve block may help.
