Loss of pigment cell: The melanin made by the pigment cells stops being made and the skin has no color, it is very vulnerable to sun damage and needs plenty of sunblock to protect as the natural protection is lost with the loss of pigment.

Loss of pigment: Autoimmune condition that damages pigment producing cells resulting in loss of skin color, can be limited , in form of nerve route, or diffuse. Can occur on face, arms, trunk, or be extensive. Sometines associated in a small number of cases with throidotos. Treatment can be topical medications, narrow band uvb, or excimer laser. Repigmentation difficult in extensive cases.
