No: Not uncommon to have back pain flare up. Disc bulge is not concerning. Recommend physical therapy and focus on improving mechanics.

Disc bulge: A disc bulge can be a major cause for localized back pain due to internal herniation. Mri may only show a bulge but a discogram can reveal the internal structural damage to the disc. Recurrence is most likely due to repetition of the same precipitating cause as the first back pain such as lifting a heavy object.
