See below: This depends on whether there is canine rabies in your area. Even if the dog was playful, if you sustained a break in the skin and if there is rabies in the area, get seen immediately.

Yes, safe: If there was no puncture wound, then you are probably safe from rabies. Rabid dogs are usually not described as playful - they are usually aggressive in demeanor.
