A member asked:

I monitored my blood pressure over two days since my dentist's appointment. when it was measured at the dentist's, it was151/107 and over two days its at an average of 99/70. other than palpitations, there are no other symptoms. is that ok?

Totally!: You don't have high blood pressure. Any BP obtained during the stress of a dental appt certainly doesn't count!

Drastic: That is a drastic difference. I'm wondering if one of the machines being used to test blood pressure are off. I would just continue to check your blood pressure on different machines and on different occasions to get an average of the readings. Blood pressure fluctuates, so getting an average is best.

See doctor: I would keep monitoring it. If it stays within the range you take, probably it spikes when you see a dentist due to apprehension and fear of dental procedures. As far as palpitations, do you have them frequently? If you, you need to see your doctor for evaluation.
