Unlucky combo?: There are a lot of theories why there would be genetic predispositions to depression. It could be that it runs partially in families although there is also a lot of random mutation of genes that causes a system that is resilient to be less so. There is also a likely influence of the susceptibility to mood disorders on personality that may make the alleles for mood disorders more prevalent.
