Safe: All drugs have side effects. Clindamycin can cause ulcerative colitis depending on dose, duration and on the patients own sensitivity to the drug. It is generally a safe drug and used frequently.

Yes: Clindamycin, like most antibiotics is relatively safe. All antibiotics can cause nausea, vomiting and diarrhea as well as allergic reactions. Clindamycin has a higher risk of causing antibiotic induced clostridium difficile colitis.
