Imagine: Trust the dentist that he will give you enough anesthetic to block any potential pain. Bring a portable music player with headphones to listen to your favorite music while the procedure is going on. Meditate or imagine you are on a nice sunny beach, with a gentle breeze blowing and you are being waited on by a beautiful/handsome waitperson.

Don't worry.: Root canal therapy should not be uncomfortable. The dentist should place topical anesthetic in the area prior to giving you local anesthetic. Once you are numb, everything should proceed smoothly. The doctor can also prescribe oral medication for you to take prior to your visit to ease your nerves if desired. So don't worry and freely speak about your apprehension with your dentist prior to tx.

You will be fine: Properly done root canal therapy is no more traumatic than a filling. Proper technique, anesthesia make it a painless experience. Best of luck.
