Is having a cholesterol of 219 bad at the age of 18? if it is, how can i stop it?

Depends: 219 is only a piece of the story. You must know the hdl. Some 18 year olds have a chol of 219 of which nearly half is the good (HDL) variety. (very low risk!) so get the rest of the data before deciding. If you need to help him/her lower their cholesterol, check out: http://www.Mayoclinic.Com/health/high-blood-cholesterol/ds00178/tab=indepth - and see the "life style" section in particular.

Above normal: it is above the normal for age- it should be under 200. You can achieve this by eating more fresh fruits , vegetables, and beans and less saturated fat found in red meat, cheese and whole milk products. A good cholesterol level to aim for is 170 or lower. Try fat free milk and lean cuts of beef in moderation
