Depends: 219 is only a piece of the story. You must know the hdl. Some 18 year olds have a chol of 219 of which nearly half is the good (HDL) variety. (very low risk!) so get the rest of the data before deciding. Above normal: it is above the normal for age- it should be under 200. You can achieve this by eating more fresh fruits , vegetables, and beans and less saturated fat found in red meat, cheese and whole milk products. A good cholesterol level to aim for is 170 or lower. Try fat free milk and lean cuts of beef in moderation
