Yes: The muscles are tight as they try to correct the "kink" in your spine. Pain usually gets better after you strengthen these same muscles. Good exercises for that are symmetrical isometric activities - swimming, rowing/rowing machine, bicycle or stationary bike, yoga. Once the muscles are stronger, the asymmetry in the spine may improve or stabilize.
