Make take longer: Crater scarring is common in chickenpox. Filling, mechanical dermabrasion (planning), or surgical removal/suturing are most common treatments. All scarring is permanent, but these help reduce visual noticeability. In black and asia pigmented skins, excess pigment is common, and usually fades over many months or couple of years.
