Chicken pox: it's a viral disease , with many generalized symptoms apart from the rash. Fever , cough and cold , are part of it. Rest . Plenty of fluids , soothing drinks like soup , honey , will help. Steam will help with lot of congestion . Continue antipyretic if needed .

Cough with varicella: A lower respiratory tract infection caused by Varicella virus may cause pneumonia or injury to the lining of the lung. Please follow up soon with your Pediatrician. A chest imaging study may be indicated. If there is post nasal drip from nasal congestion or drainage, please use nasal saline and gentle suction. Watch for signs of distress and if this occurs, please see the Emergency Department.
