A member asked:

After a breast cancer diagnosis, how long before the operation and/or treatment can start?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Variable: This is a very common question and concern. It is highly variable. The tendency (for obvious reasons) is for most patients to want surgery/therapy immediately. However, one of the most important aspects of proper mgmt is to completely evaluate and stage the cancer...Which can prolong surgery/therapy a month or more. While unsettling, this has proven to ultimately improve the long term results.
