Yes: Most breast cancers are first treated with surgery. After breast-conserving surgery, radiation is necessary. Not all breast cancers need treatment with chemotherapy. If a breast cancer is estrogen sensitive, it can often be treated with an oral medication that blocks estrogen instead of chemotherapy.
