EKG : Ekg and blood work can tell if on is having a heart attack. Chest pain due to coronary artery disease ( angina) may not be detected with either of these tests. Stress test may be indicated. Again stress test may be falsely negative. Coronary angiography is the gold standard to rule out narrowing of coronary arteries.
