A member asked:

Could a large strain on my adrenal glands lead to adrenal failure or cardiac arrest the same way a lack of cortisol can?

No: Humans must have adrenal hormones for life. Bilateral adrenalectomy will lead to death if replacement hormones are not given. However, if extreme stress lead to adrenal failure, every air force and navy fighter pilot and every astronaut and cosmonaut in the the world would require adrenal hormone replacement!
