Elevated: Across the developed world, 90% of lung cancer deaths in men during the year 2000 were attributed to smoking (70% for women). Smoking accounts for 80–90% of lung cancer cases. The more and the longer your friend smokes, the greater the risk. Heart disease, stroke, and peripheral vascular disease are also serious consequences of smoking as is chronic lung disease (emphysema) with poor life quality.

Getting higher daily: While anyone can get lung or other cancers, smokers are very high risk. More cigarettes, more days and it just keeps on rising!
