Usually not: Try a product called zilactin from your local pharmacy. Follow instruction on the packaging. It stings when applied but works very quickly and is economical.

Maybe: It can help reduce the discomfort and maybe hasten healing. Canker sores usually last about 2 weeks by themselves.
