It is more complex: Media is not the only one to blame for teenage eating disorders. The fashion industry plays a part, as do advertising , parenting, schools, the music and film industry. It is a social psychological phenomenon that has been pushing women and children to aspire to be thin and to assume that their bodies need to look like twiggy to be beautiful. Media will stop promoting this when parents protest.
