Rarely: Blood over the white part of the eye is usually from a broken blood vessel causing a subconjunctival hemorrhage. It is rarely serious. Blood thinning agents like Coumadin (warfarin) and Aspirin can make you more prone to have the problem. High blood pressure and straining can cause it. Rubbing the eye can cause it. Sometimes, no cause is found. See your ophthalmologist to be sure.
