I am 42 just had a pelvic us and the endometrial lining measured 12.5mm (1.25cm) and it was 5 days after my cycle. is this normal?

Yes: If your endometrial lining was 12.5 mm on the fifth day of your menstrual cycle then the lining it's too thick and you should be evaluated for conditions such as endometrial polyp, hyperplasia and others.
