Risks of Surgery: Any operation that requires entering the space where the intestines are runs the risk of injuring them. Injury can be direct or from other sources such as loss of blood flow to the bowel. Not knowing your full history or having been there, it is hard to say what caused the obstruction or abscess. These are, however, known complications from abdominal surgery, regardless of the procedure done.

Robotic surgery : It is possible that there was an injury to your intestines during the removal of your ovary which caused the abscess. Generally, with an abdominal abscess, you don't need to remove intestines unless there was a problem with the intestines that caused the abscess.
