Medications: There are medications like Acyclovir that can be used to treat shingles in the acute phase or right before the skin lesions appear. Medications like Neurontin (gabapentin) or anti-inflammatory medications are sometimes helpful for the pain afterwards as are epidural steroid injections. Consult your local physician.
