How long after your period should you do a pap smear?

Avoid bleeding : Blood from your monthly menses can interfere with your pap results. Therefore, most physicians prefer to perform a pap test when a woman is not bleeding heavily. I would recommend any time during the month but avoiding the first 3-4 days of the start of your period if possible.

Doesn't matter: A pap smear can be done irrespective of the period. Some patients prefer to reschedule rather than have an exam during their period, but it does not matter and does not affect the pap smear.
