What happens if you get pap smear and you just started your period?

Usually this is fine: Sometimes it affects the result of the pap. Once the results are in, your doctor will advise you.

Not ideal: Ideally, pap tests should be done while a woman is not on her period as blood can interfere with the reading especially if you are bleeding heavily. With that said, a little blood is usually fine and usually will not affect the results.
