Opiates: This is tough without knowing what your injuries are and also what your pain pattern is. Also why do you have to go without medications for 9 months - ?Pregnant.

Lots of things: For one, think about breathing, many discount the power of releasing your own endorphins, which are not released when taking opiates. Also, new information points out that opiates may be countering their own effects at molecular / cellular levels.
