Bruised my ribs 1 wk ago. was given tramadol (can't take opiates) and flexeril (cyclobenzaprine hcl) . i am so constipated, no bm since injury. took mom & nothing-help!!!!

Colace, (docusate sodium) senna: There are other combinations such as prune juice or colace and senna or miralax (polyethylene glycol) that can help with the constipation. unfortunately the tramadol may be constipating as it has opioid like properties even though it is synthetic. Therefore you may want to try topical diclofenac, also called Pennsaid or lidocaine, or lidoderm patch for the pain.
