Antibiotics: Pelvic inflammatory disease is best treated with antibiotics. Sometimes if there is a large cyst filled with pus, a complication of pelvic inflammatory disease, that has to be drained (this is called a tubo-ovarian abscess). Most pid though can be treated with antibiotics. Sometimes those antibiotics can be oral, sometimes they need to be given intravenously. Depends on severity of disease.
