Yes: Wear and tear is a lay description of degenerative disc disease in relation to the lower back. Herniated disc is also from the same play.

Spondylosis: Wear and tear arthritis of the spine, degenerative disc disease, and spondylosis are all used interchangeably. Wear and tear may include arthritis spurs, disc space narrowing, etc, but does not necessarily mean herniated disc.
