Rx definately: Interstitial cystitis often leads to chronic reinfection in females and should be treated with an initial dose of antibiotics and a later dose of a urinary bacteriostatic agent such as macrobid.

Seek help: The best avenue for diagnosing and receiving treatment for interstitial cystitis would be to see a urologist, urogynecologist or obgyn that treats patients with this disorder. Treatments involve diet modifications, pain medicaitons. Some treatments also include bladder hydrodistension with chemical treatments and possibly elmiron (pentosan). Very severe cases may require a simulation device. Seek help.
