While i was travelling to kenya, i had experienced breathlessness, as i do suffer from palpitations, should i take sleeping pills on my way back?

You could: Don't mix them with alcohol. Don't overdose. If they were prescribed to you, presumably you don't have any contraindications or allergies to them. The breathlessness and palpitations (whatever their cause) should not be exacerbated by sleeping pills (a benzodiazapine?).
