Psychiatry: It means that the psychiatrist has more experience in seeing patients in the hospital on medical, surgical units and doing psychiatry consults there.

C-L psychiatrist: Consultation-liaison psychiatry (also called psychosomatic medicine) is a subspecialty whose focus is caring for patients who have comorbid psychiatric and general medical-surgical conditions. Psychiatrists take c-l fellowships, which encompass areas like transplantation, psycho-oncology, hiv, acute stress and post-traumatic stress, etc. C-l psychiatrists serve in inpatient & outpatient settings.

Psychiatrist: Consultation liaison would be someone who would provide a consult for your problem. Psychiatrist being a consultation liaison is a specialist in psychiatrist you are referred to to get an opinion on your mental problem. It will be an office visit like you might have had with a general practitioner already. He will conduct an interview and do an exam.
