A member asked:

Is it possible to have a fibrocystic breast cyst with discharge and not be cancer?

Absolutely...: Nipple discharge, cysts, and "fibrocystic changes" in the breast are all relatively common. Most of the time these findings are not cancer. However, to be sure, there are certain things most doctors will want to know. For example: is the nipple discharge on one side? Is it bloody? Does it occur on it's own? Has the patient had children? In some cases an ultrasound of the breast may be needed.

Yes: Benign nipple discharge is usually milky or greenish in color. The greenish discharge associated with fibrocystic changes of the breast is due to dilatation of the ducts ( duct ectasia) and leads to the accumulation of debris and then discharge.
