Possible tear...: ...Of muscle / tendon / ligament. These tend to hurt when you move them actively, but are less uncomfortable when passively moved. If persists beyond 5-10 days, consider orthopedic eval or seeing your primary dr. Cold compresses to area and/or NSAID may reduce discomfort.

Good Differential Dx: Good first step in analysis. Study wrist anatomy on the net for further clues. Your comparative maneuver would suggest no problems with the bones, cartilage coverings within the joints between the 2 forearm bones, 8 wrist bones and metacarpal bones, or loose pieces within these joints. To actively move the wrist we must contract muscles, slid tendons within tendon sheaths, etc. So pain from these.

Hand pain: Could be muscle sprain? If persisting or getting severe, see a doc.
