Little noses: Irritants like perfume & dust can make the nose swell inside & the mucous they make may rattle & breathing becomes more noticeable. If babies activity or feeding is pretty normal, simple nasal wash out with saline can improve things. If babies activity changes & they seem fussy, tired or not interested in feeding, it's time for a visit. Cat dander is unlikely to be an issue at this age.

Genetics/allergies: Many newborns are congested at birth during the first month of life. Gently using nasal saline will help to keep the passages clear. Your family genetic history does increase the likelihood that he may develop allergies, typically later in infancy and childhood. During the first year of life, food allergies are more common than allergies to cat dander.
