A member asked:

Is being insulin resistant an easy thing to diagnose? been checked for diabetes, sugar levels ok.does that necessarily mean i'm not insulin resistant?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Insulin resistance: Insulin resistance is the underlying pathology of most type 2 diabetics and is a common consequence of obesity. It can be diagnosed by a glucose tolerance test. Other characteristics of diabetes can be measured, such as hemoglobin a1c and fasting glucose, triglyceride, body mass index, waist circumference. Insulin resistance is also seen in polycystic ovary syndrome.
