I've been on prophylactic antibiotics for recurrent uti. should i take probiotics?

I would: I'm a big fan of probiotics. Antibiotics are definitely important when you need them, but when women (or men) reach the point of needing them for chronic condition, it's better to figure out what the trigger is so you don't have to expose your body to long term antibiotic use. Probiotics can help with that, as can other diet and lifestyle changes. Plenty of books on this at library and store!

Yes. : A study published in the journal of american medical association suggests that probiotics may help lower the risk of diarrhea by 42%. By affecting good bacteria, as well as bad, antibiotics can disrupt the delicate microbial balance in the intestines, but the live microorganisms marketed as probiotics can help restore this balance to prevent diarrhea.
