Both are safe: Depends on the provider they are both excellent drugs. In fact we give both of these drugs, versed initially and then Propofol during the procedure. As long as there is an anesthesiologist adiministering the Propofol it is really safe to use as long as you have no comorbidities.

Propofol is better: Versed will cause some amnesia so you won't remember any discomfort. Propofol is better in that it is out of system faster and you will be street ready sooner than versed.

Not so...: Both of these medications are used by experienced practitioners in a setting where monitoring and emergency equipment are the standard of care. Each causes sedation and amnesia, although Propofol reliably induces sleep. The best choice for you may be the one used most frequently by your care team. They, in turn, would wish for you to come to a decision with them, based on your own medical profile.
