Avoid ticks: Wear long sleeves, cover pants with socks. Use insect repellant amd examine your skin for ticks when returning from tick prone areas. If exposed see doctor for examination of tick and early course of antibiotics.

Avoid ticks: Check yourself carefully when you have been out in the brush and remove ticks without squeezing them. If you develop a rash, fever or other suspicious symptoms get seen by a doctor quickly and treated if there is a likelihood of having been infected.
