No: food allergy isn't usually a cause of turbinate hypertrophy, allergy to inhalants, pollens and dust mites for example, would lead to turbinate hypertrophy though, stopping nasal steroids can lead to recurrence of allergy symptoms, need to follow up with an allergist / ENT doctor, good luck

More likely inhalent: There are various types of food allergies and sensitivities which can cause skin, GI, respiratory and sinonasal symptoms. Generally turbinate hypertrophy is due to inhalant allergies. Nasal steroid sprays derive their benefit after days of use and must be continued to function. If allergies are present, symptoms of congestion stuffiness generally improved with antihistamine and nasal steroid.
