Panic disorder: Symptoms of panic disorder include sudden attacks of fear and nervousness, as well as physical symptoms such as sweating and a racing heart. During a panic attack, the fear response is out of proportion for the situation, which often is not threatening. Some patients report the sense of going crazy or feeling like they're going to die.

Episodes of anxiety: People with panic disorder have periods of intense fear or anxiety. These are called panic attacks and they last a few monents to 30 minutes but rarely longer than that. People have a pounding heart beat, shortness of breath and sometimes get sweaty. Sometimes these are triggered by an event but they can also come "out of the blue" with no detectable trigger.
