A member asked:

What are the top reasons for getting muscle infection?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Muscle infections: Muscle infections are rare. They are usually related to bacteria in the blood spreading to injured muscle or direct contamination of muscle by penetrating injuries. One of the more serious infections is streptococcal myositis. This condition is life threatening and must be treated with urgent surgery and intravenous antibiotics.
